Electronic Locks
To ensure the efficiency of any access control solution, electronic locks usually require a form of identification to allow for the deactivation of the lock. Three interchangeable authentication methods combined are used to ensure a heightened level of security.
Numerical Code
The numerical code, often referred to as a password, is the most common form of preventing access to a secured area. Only those with the numerical code can render the lock by using numbers on the keypad.
Security Token
A security token can be a magnetic card, coded key, special remote control, or even a code line that is transmitted to a lock. This method is optimal for all locks security problems, since only the person holding the token can deactivate the lock.
Biometric
Biometric identification uses the unique morphological profile of each person, and is therefore the most certain identification system ever developed. Many of the newest electronic locks run a fingerprint or retinal scan of the eye, match the results to their database, and open the locks for authorized personnel only. Many biometric access control identify authorized users by their voice.
These electronic devices come either integrated into a bigger security system or are available as single devices that are fully capable of securing access to sensitive areas.
